Toolkit to End Childhood Lead Poisoning: Tool 8 Launch

Webinar
The PLF and UNICEF launched Tool 8 of the Toolkit to End Childhood Lead Poisoning, a resource to help governments craft and enforce effective legislation to eliminate lead exposure. To introduce the tool, the PLF hosted a webinar, designed to provide examples of national legal frameworks or legislation for regulating sources of lead exposure.

This webinar is part of the Lead-Free Future for Every Child series and marks the sixth installment. Be sure to revisit earlier sessions: the first webinar explored sources of childhood lead exposure, the second reviewed how to conduct blood lead level surveys, the third shared how to conduct an environmental lead exposure risk assessment, the fourth how to take a whole-of-government approach to address childhood lead poisoning and the fifth on clear communication to prevent and address childhood lead poisoning.

Speakers:

  • Angela Bandemehr, PLF Secretariat (moderator)
  • Mihaela Paun, UNEP – Why lead regulations matter for public health and environmental protection
  • Peter Namutala and Anne Jael Omedi, Kenya Bureau of Standards – Implementing and enforcing a lead paint standard
  • Musa Baker, icddr,b, Bangladesh – Policy action to prevent turmeric adulteration
