Welcoming Abdullah Fadil as Director of the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future Secretariat
We are delighted to welcome Abdullah Fadil as the new Director of the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future (PLF) Secretariat, hosted by UNICEF. Abdullah brings more than 25 years of global leadership experience in humanitarian relief, development, peace building, and public administration. Most recently, he served as UNICEF’s Representative in Pakistan and Sudan, and previously held senior roles with the United Nations in the Middle East, Europe, and Africa.
Abdullah begins this role with a clear vision: to ensure the PLF Secretariat supports government-led efforts, amplifies the work already underway, and strengthens collaboration across partners. By connecting actors, aligning strategies, and mobilizing resources, he is committed to helping countries accelerate progress toward ending childhood lead poisoning.
The PLF’s mission is urgent and ambitious: end childhood lead poisoning by 2040. With Abdullah’s leadership and the collective efforts of governments, civil society, and the private sector, we are confident the PLF can serve as a hub for knowledge, best practices, and action that reflects the scale of this challenge.
Please join us in welcoming Abdullah to the PLF community. We look forward to working together toward a lead-free future for every child.
