The Partnership for a Lead-Free Future is hosting a webinar, designed to provide information about environmentally sound recycling of used lead-acid batteries (ULABs) and to launch the PLF Toolkit Tool 11: Strategies to Encourage the Environmentally Sound Recycling of Used Lead-Acid Batteries (ULABs). The tool is intended to support policymakers and civil society organizations to address lead exposure caused by ULAB1 recycling.2 ULAB management3 differs considerably across countries, and strategies to address lead exposure from ULAB recycling should be tailored to a specific country’s context.
This webinar will present information on the health and environmental impacts of used lead-acid battery recycling, options for intervention and a Ghana country case study.
This tool is part of the Toolkit to End Childhood Lead Poisoning, published by UNICEF in support of the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future (PLF) with input from PLF partners, including the Lead-Acid Battery Recycling Initiative, Pure Earth, Öko Institut, United Nations Environment Program, United Nations Children’s Fund and Basel Convention Secretariat.
