Chemicals and Waste Youth Platform

As a partner, the Chemicals and Waste Youth Platform (CWYP) is committed to protecting children’s health and development from the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation, with a primary focus on addressing hazardous chemicals, waste and pollution.

As part of their contribution to the Children's Environmental Health Collaborative and the Partnership for a Lead-Free Future, they commit to the following activities:

  • Provide a safe and empowering space where children and youth in all their diversity can document and voice their testimonies on the impacts of hazardous chemicals, waste and pollution, and share their demands for action.
  • Mobilize child and youth leadership to advocate for chemicals and waste policies and science agendas that embed children’s environmental health in their design and implementation, including through joint co-branded communication and advocacy products with UNICEF, CEHC, and PLF, where feasible.
  • Support and make visible child and youth-led initiatives and innovations that address pollution prevention, zero waste and chemical safety, including through the Pollution Solutions Youth Challenge.
  • Create and share child and youth-friendly educational and capacity-building materials that help young people understand how hazardous chemicals and waste affect their health and how they can take action.
  • Co-lead and actively contribute to key events, knowledge-generation and awareness-raising initiatives of the CEHC and PLF, bringing forward child and youth-developed case studies, research, stories and collective priorities.
